Content Management Systems

When a website is built using a content management system (CMS) it means you are able to control what appears on your website. A good CMS will allow you to easily keep content up to date, with the minimum of technical knowledge.

All the websites we build use a Content Management System. At Llama Digital we use one of three different CMS's depending on the solution required.

• We use Drupal (www.drupal.org) for larger websites.
• We use MODx for smaller websites
• We use our own in-house system if there is a particularly high level of bespoke work required

We have built a range of websites using the award-winning Drupal CMS. Benefits of Drupal include the following:

• Drupal is an extremely powerful product with a rich feature list.
• Drupal has a very active development community. That means new features will continue to be added, allowing you to add new functionality for little cost.
• Its flexible architecture allows for the creation of bespoke modules - enabling us to tailor the solution precisely to your requirements.
• Using Drupal will help 'future-proof' your website. New modules can be added in at a later stage to add new functionality.
• Drupal is Open Source. The advantage of this is that despite being enterprise-level software there are no licence fees.

MODx

For smaller content managed websites our preferred solution is MODx. MODx does not have quite the same range of features as Drupal, but for smaller websites it is an excellent choice.

Benefits of MODx include the following:

• Easy to use admin interface
• Very flexible structure
• Open Source - no licence fees!
